Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing - "Enchanting" is an accurate description for a day at the Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski Area. Located at the top of 9,800-foot Bobcat Pass, just five minutes from the heart of Red River, the Enchanted Forest offers the Nordic skiing experience at its finest with more than 30 kilometers of groomed trails and six kilometers of natural trails winding through 1,400 acres in the Carson National Forest. Equipment and lessons are available for all ability levels. Regular events include Full Moon tours, Ladies' Day, cross country skiers' improvement clinics and long distance races. Snowshoeing is one of the fastest growing winter sports. Try it - it's easy and you'll like it. All ages can enjoy snowshoeing along the groomed trails and narrower special snowshoe trails at the Enchanted Forest.
Snowmobiling - Broad meadows of waist deep powder, towering snowcapped peaks and the breathtaking
splendor of the high country all add up to some of the best snowmobiling in the Southern Rockies. Bring
your own sled or take a professionally guided trip with one of Red River's qualified snowmobile tour
companies. With miles of rideable terrain, including groomed trails‚provided by various outfitters, The Town of Red River - you'll see the
mountains from a new and unforgettable prospective.
Red River Ski Area offers something for every member of your family, from a low, slow beginner lift to a new High Speed triple chair make a variety of intermediate and expert runs available. Our nationally-recognized ski school has packages for all levels of ability, from beginning to advanced.
For the free spirits who want to try the snowboarding park, instruction and equipment rentals are available at the ski area and at rental shops in town. Every Saturday night during ski season, in accordance with tradition, fearless souls with flaming torches in hand ritually descend "The Face", while colorful fireworks illuminate the dark winter sky overhead. This unforgettable spectacle of sight and sound is only a small part of the excitement and fun that awaits you in the Ski Town of the Southwest.
